Acapulco, Mexico (Sports Network) - Reigning champion Flavia Pennetta was an easy first-round winner Tuesday at the $220,000 Mexican Open.
The second-seeded Pennetta pasted Ukrainian Mariya Koryttseva 6-3, 6-1 on the red clay at The Fairmont Acapulco Princess. The five time Mexican Open finalist Pennetta beat France's Alize Cornet in last year's final here, also captured this event in 2005 and was the runner-up in 2004, 2006 and 2007.
